Household & small-office moving

Your whole house, carried like it matters.

We run small crews and our own trucks. The foreman who walks through your rooms is the one who loads them — no handoffs halfway through the day, no subcontracted driver you have never met.

Before the truck is booked

Three things decide what a move costs — and none of them are guesses.

A walkthrough takes about twenty minutes. We measure the awkward parts, count what actually travels, and write the estimate against those notes rather than a room count on a form.

  • Access at both ends

Stair turns, lift dimensions and booking windows, driveway width, and how far the truck has to park from the door. Long carries change the crew size, so we would rather find them in advance.

  • Volume that really travels

Most households move less than they expect and a few move far more. We note oversize pieces — pianos, safes, stone tops, tall wardrobes — separately, because they set the equipment list.

  • Timing and building rules

Single-day moves, staged moves over a weekend, or a gap between closing dates. Buildings with loading-bay hours or certificate requirements need lead time, and that shapes the date we can hold.

A survey walks every room, including the ones nobody thinks about — the loft hatch, the shed, the cupboard under the stairs.

What we take on

Five kinds of work, priced and crewed differently.

Find the line that sounds like your move; the survey will confirm it.

01

Full household move

Two to five crew

Load, transport, and place. Beds are reassembled, wardrobe rails rehung, and furniture set where you want it rather than left in the hallway. Flat-pack that will not survive a second disassembly gets flagged during the survey.

02

Apartment and walk-up move

Stair and lift work

Lift reservations, lobby and floor protection, and stair carries counted by flight rather than by hope. We confirm building rules with the manager before the date is held, and we bring our own door-jamb guards.

03

Packing and materials

Full or partial

Kitchens, glass, books and framed work, packed in graded cartons and labelled by destination room. Partial packing is common: many customers do the soft goods themselves and leave the breakables to the crew.

04

Small office and studio relocation

Evenings and weekends

Desk plans numbered to a floor drawing, screens crated, cables bagged to their machine. We work outside trading hours where a building allows it so your Monday does not start with a search for keyboards.

05

Storage in transit

Between dates

When the dates do not meet, your load stays wrapped in sealed timber vaults rather than being handled twice into a self-storage unit. Inventory is signed on the way in and on the way out.

How a move runs

Five stages, and what each one needs from you.

Nothing here is a surprise on the day. This is the sequence every Maple Ridge move follows, from the first walkthrough to the last signature.

  1. Walkthrough and written estimate

We visit both addresses where possible, note access and oversize items, and send a written estimate with the crew size, truck size, hours allowed and the materials list. If something is uncertain, it is written as a range and explained.

What we need Access to every room, including loft and outbuildings, and a rough idea of anything not travelling.
  2. Plan and materials drop

Once the date is held we confirm building rules, lift bookings and parking. If you are packing yourself, cartons, tape, paper and mattress bags arrive a week or so ahead so you are not rationing boxes the night before.

What we need Your building's loading rules, and a labelling plan for rooms that change names in the new place.
  3. Pack day, if you have booked one

Usually the day before the move. The crew works room by room, packs and labels, and leaves out an "open first" carton for kettle, chargers, bedding and anything needed that first night. Beds stay usable until move morning.

What we need Anything valuable, medical or legal set aside to travel with you, not in a carton.
  4. Move day

Protection down first, then disassembly, wrap and load. The foreman keeps the inventory and walks the empty house with you before the truck leaves, checking cupboards, the hatch and the garden. You get a call when the truck is on approach.

What we need One decision-maker reachable all day, and pets and small children kept clear of the carry route.
  5. Placement and sign-off

Boxes go to their labelled rooms, beds are rebuilt, and large furniture is placed before the crew leaves — moved twice if the first spot is wrong. We flatten and take the packing debris on request, and the inventory is signed off together.

What we need Twenty minutes at the end to walk the rooms and agree that everything on the list arrived.

On every truck

What comes as standard, what is loaned, and what we quote separately.

So you can compare a Maple Ridge estimate against anyone else's line by line.

Furniture blankets and stretch wrap

Included

Every upholstered and timber piece is wrapped before it leaves the room.

Floor runners and door-jamb guards

Included

Laid at both addresses, plus lobby and lift protection in managed buildings.

Mattress bags

Included

One per mattress, sealed on the truck and kept sealed until placement.

Wardrobe boxes on move day

Loaned

Hanging clothes travel on rails and come straight back out; the boxes return with us.

Standard bed, table and shelf disassembly

Included

Fixings bagged, labelled and taped to the piece they belong to.

Television and mirror cartons

On request

Added to the materials list at survey; screens above sixty inches are crated.

Crating for art, stone and glass tops

Quoted

Built to the piece, so it is measured at survey and priced as its own line.

Appliance and utility disconnection

Not included

Gas, water and hard-wired work needs a licensed trade. We will tell you what to book.

Anything not on this list gets written into your estimate rather than discovered on the day.

Field notes

Questions our crews get asked every week.

How far ahead should we book?
Three to four weeks is comfortable for a house, and a week or two for a flat or a studio. Month-end Fridays and the first weekend after a school term ends fill first, so if your date is fixed to a completion, tell us early and we will hold a provisional slot.
Do you charge by the hour or by the job?
Full household moves are quoted as a fixed price after the walkthrough, so a slow lift or heavy traffic is our problem rather than yours. Partial jobs — a few items, a single room, a storage collection — are hourly with a minimum call-out, and we say which basis applies in the estimate.
What cannot travel on the truck?
Fuel, gas cylinders, aerosols, open paint and solvents, fireworks, and anything corrosive. Fridges and freezers must be defrosted and dry. We also ask you to carry documents, jewellery, medication and house keys yourself — not because they would go missing, but because you will want them before the truck is unloaded.
Do we need to empty dresser drawers?
Light clothing can usually stay in solid timber drawers and we wrap the unit closed. Empty them if the piece is flat-pack, glass-fronted, or if the drawers hold books, tools or anything heavy. Bedside drawers should be emptied regardless, since they tend to hold the small things you will want that night.
What happens if our completion date moves?
It happens often enough that we plan for it. Tell us as soon as you know and we will move the booking to the nearest date we can crew. If the gap leaves you without keys, your load stays wrapped in our vaults on a storage-in-transit basis and we redeliver when you are ready.
Is parking and lift access our responsibility?
Yours to arrange, ours to tell you about. During the survey we note exactly what the truck needs — a bay, a suspension, a lift booked for a block of hours — and we will speak to your building manager directly if that is easier. Where a truck genuinely cannot get close, we plan a shuttle in a smaller vehicle instead.
What if it rains on move day?
We still move. Runners go down, doorways get covered, upholstery travels in wrap rather than blankets alone, and cartons are staged inside instead of on the path. Only genuinely unsafe conditions — ice on a steep drive, a storm warning — would have us call you to reschedule, and we would do that the evening before rather than on the morning.

Where the truck can park is the first thing a foreman looks at — and the detail most estimates get wrong.

Request a survey date

Tell us the shape of the move. We will bring the tape measure.

Send this and we will reply with two or three survey times. After the walkthrough you get a written estimate with crew, truck, hours and materials itemised — no deposit asked for until you accept it.

  • Survey visits run about twenty minutes, weekdays or Saturday mornings.
  • Video walkthroughs are fine for studios and one-bedroom flats.
  • We cover the ridge and the valley towns; longer moves are quoted per route.
  • If your dates are still moving, send the window rather than waiting for certainty.

We use what you send here to prepare your estimate and nothing else.
